How would a fertile egg look at around 4 weeks?

sutmae Jun 15, 2004 11:20 AM

Hi, I have got 3 eggs in the incubator at the moment 1 at 3 weeks and 2 at around 4 weeks. They have all grown since they were layed and are still plump and filled out and seem to be firm when touched, but they are a kind of dark yellow colour. They are nowhere near as hard as a chickens egg though (although I didn`t think they would anyway)

Should they be a good white colour to be fertile? They are in vermiculite (sp?) could they get the colour change from absorbing water from this?

Any information (or maybe even the odd photo ;0) would be great!
Thanks
Sutmae

A dark yellow egg is probably not fertile. I notice that my fertile eggs are always a chalky white color. The only yellow ones I had were infertile.

Here is a picture of a fertile egg at 4 weeks. After I post this one I will post a picture of a yellowish colored egg that has a red bullseye in it, which means it is fertile, but it doesn't look like the eggs that I have hatched out. I have circled the area where the red bullseye is.
