Mealworms to add protein to mouse diet?

Amanda E Jun 15, 2004 02:40 PM

I've heard that some people give their rats an occasional mealworm as a treat and also to boost the protein in their diet.

Would mice appreciate this as well, or are they not like rats in this respect?

I am not sure how much protein they are particularly, but my rodents are fun to watch with a bug or two. My mice seem to like them better than the rats do actually. Too fun to see a mouse mom stalking a cricket or cockroach.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

I keep meaning to start up a mealworm colony so I will be able to give the mice treats of mealworms from time to time. And yes, it's a hilarious thing to watch mice hunting crickets!
