Male from prehistoric pets-bad eye

zackshawna Jun 19, 2003 01:16 PM

I got my male about 3 months ago and have noticed him closing his left eye a lot. When I put him in a worm water bath he opened it and there was whitish stuff covering his eye I flushed most of it away and he opens it now, but some is still there. Can anyone relate, know what this is?

I would say it is some sort of fungus or infection. I would call the vet if nothing else.

Was the white stuff like a sheet, or goo? If it was like a membrane it may have been unshed skin. If it is goo it is probably an infection and needs veterinary care.

Given that you've had him for three months I would say that he acquired this infection while in your care too, so where you got him from is irrelevant...

I had a female blizz from there do the same thing, but her eye swelled shut. Coincidence? Who knows. Anyway, a trip to the vet and some topical antibiotic took care of it.
