Types of Turtles in a Pond

Raptorman Jun 15, 2004 06:50 PM

Hey, I'm building a pond, the size of it will begive or take around 12 by 9 feet and 3sh feet deep with stream/waterfall. I plan on having 6-8 turtle sin there. The types I wanted where 2 RES, 2 Western Painted .... then I couldn't decide about the others. Should I do maps? What type of maps? They need to be able to compete with the other species. Or what about softshell? What type? Will they get to big? Other types out there you think would be good for the pond? I'm looking for ones that aren't hard to take care of, can hold there ground, look kewl, and aren't to expensive. Would it matter if I got a male/female ratio for each pair of specie? I was orginally gonna get them adolecent/adult, but now I'm htinking baby so they'll be a bit tame and get used to each other. Any ideas?

David

In my pond, inside, I have 1 red ear, 1 map, 1 yellow belly, 1 striped mud, & 1 fl. softshell.
I also have golfish, koi, and a channel catfish. They all seem to get along very well. The softy, red ear, & map are males. The yellow belly is the only female. There haven't been any problems, yet...
