Hey guys, been silent in the Forum and have a question.

Collaredkeeper Jun 15, 2004 07:14 PM

My two adults have been caught mating about 4 times. I bought them around 1 1/2 years ago but did not have them hibernate. The male and female are youthful adults and hopeful parents for the first time. My question is, After they breed, how long does it take for the female to show color. This been asked a lot but I couldn't find the post.
Thanks,
Collaredkeeper

well i am no expert in lizard sex but i think that normally the girls turn orange and then they start having sex, but i know some people on the forum have had girls never turn orange and some have said that the boys can sometimes tell before the girl turns.

the orange does not necessarily mean that the girl has fertilized eggs in her. it just means that she has eggs in her that need to be fertilized or are already fertilized. the orange is a symbol to the boys that she is ready, kinda like lizard make up or something ha ha. so once she shows orange you just have to hope that they actually get fertilized. she can be orange and lay dud eggs, trust me i know!!!!
