Referring back to the thread a bit down on baby easterns and feeding and all.
My son found a larval two lined salamander in the creek (couple inches long)and I thought I would give it a try with the little PITA infant. That little eastern (the smallest neonate I have had- I will have to measure her, she is too small to get a weight on really....like 4 grams) seemed to ignore it at first and I went about other things to give her some time. I go back 15minutes later and she has it by the middle and is banging it around...apparently forgetting much of the time that she is a constrictor. I couldn't watch her after a couple of twists and shifting her bite or I would have interfered. Came back 15 minutes more and she had a nifty full tummy and a grin on her face. Now, I am hoping I can scent pinks.....here's hoping.
