Getting WC's to eat...this is a thank you!

gone_balls_crazy Jun 15, 2004 10:43 PM

Just wanted to say thank you to who ever posted the information about getting WC's to eat a few weeks ago. It worked like a charm! I set up the cage just like they said and one fed two days later and will now eat anything I put in her cage! She has already gained a ton of weight in two weeks! My second one took about a week to eat but will now come out of her hide the minute I go to put any food in there! I was really getting worried about these two. They had not fed since I recieved them, that was about 5 months ago, and it showed! Once again I give you a HUGE THANK YOU!!!

It's just some ideas and stats on what has been working for me. If you look at the stats you'll see it doesn't always work. I've still got one old girl holding out.

Hope it helps~ Good luck!

Hi Cheryl, Try giving the one that will not eat a live Deer mouse. I had 1 holding out (WC) till last sunday & she finally took a live Deer. I have tried (before the Deer) live and dead of, mice, rats, Russian hampsters, Chinese hampsters, Gerbils with no luck. She slammed it Not 5 min. after putting it in with her.

Thanks for the rodents & ideas jyohe!

Did you try different types of Hamsters?

but I havn't seen anything advertised as a "Deer Mouse" around here. In California we seem to have the Pet Nazi's and they like to tell us we can't keep all kinds of things. No ferrets, no sugar gliders, no gerbils.

I've only tried Siberian hamsters (and rats, mice, and chicks). The problem is~ if I get something special~ like a hamster or a chick~ if the snake won't eat it~ I'm stuck! Pet store won't take it back~ and I'm not gonna feed it to another snake for fear of putting a feeding snake off feed (Only wants hamsters or chicks now)

All very frustrating isn't it?!?

Tootles,
