Heeeelp cant find PVC screening!

melisondra Jun 15, 2004 11:35 PM

Im finally getting my outdoor cage done, but im having problems finding the pvc screening the design recommended. Im almost sure there was a post about this before but I cant seem to find it in the searchs. Anyone know a good place to find the screen? Or what is a good other choice? Will regular fiberglass screening work or something else? What have others used?
Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks all!
Erin

I am just finishing my cage and we used fiberglass.

I used hardeware mesh then sprayed it with this rubber spray used for tool handles and stuff, 4 or 5 coats a few hours to dry and its very durable. It's like 7 dollars a can tho, but fiberglass screen will soon have holes where bugs (espically crickets that aren't eaten )chew thru..

Did the spray stuff work well? I thought about doing that too, but was concerned about how many $7.00 cans it would take and if it would be a mess.

If you can find the vinyl coated wire please let me know where you get it. I have been looking everywhere with no luck. Everyone says to get it at Home Depot, but they act like they don't know what I'm talking.... I'm probably going to have to order some from a company out of state.

erin - there was a whole thread going a week or so ago on this subject. You can get it at home depot. go to this thread and read the last post re: what it is called at HD

I just got off the phone with Home Depot's manufacturer (Midwest Air Technologies), and they said they do not carry wire mesh with openings any smaller than 2" X 4" that is vinyl coated. They said that HD simply doesn't carry it with 1/2" X 1" openings, and that the people who I'd spoke with on the internet must have HD's that special ordered the stuff for their stores. I've given up on Home Depot, and I think I'll be ordering it somewhere else. -This isn't to say that anyone is lying about getting it at there HD, it's just that they do not have it at any of the ones near me and there manufacturer does not carry it either.

P.S. This is what I have been asking for: 16 gauge vinyl-coated welded wire mesh with 1" X 1/2" openings in rolls of either 24" or 48" x 50 or 100 ft.
