How fast do dwarfs actually grow??

palpman Jun 16, 2004 01:39 AM

Does anyone have a growth schedule for a
dwarf caiman? Like how large should one be
at 1,2,3 or 4 years of age? I am feeding mine
2 pinky mice and a few minnows every other day.
What should I be feeding him and how often so
that he could be healthy and growing at a good
rate. He has been the same size all around for
a few months now and just doesn't seem to be
growing, what would you do?? By they way, I got
him on New Years day and he was 15" when he
arrived, and still is.

Thanks.

What size of encloser is he in. I have little experience with dwarf but have plenty of spectcled. I feed on the way you feed and mine grow like weeds. Ronnie

Right now he is in a twenty gallon aquarium
which is only temperory. I am setting up a 150
gallon rubbermaid which wont be ready for a week.
From new years to about a week ago he was set
up in a 75 gallon long aquarium until it broke.

Thanks.

I have 2 dwarf caimens (pals) and 3 spectacled caimens. As you know obviously dwarfs do no get to enourmous size. They grow slowly but it sounds you really need to put him in a bigger enclosure. I have 2 baby dwarfs and they are in a 100 Gal aquarium and they have a lot of room to grow. But no worries, if he is eating good and seems to be healthy, you cant go wrong. My spectacled caimens grew about 10 -12 inches a year but they get bigger than dwarfs.
