Surgery a success...

DeanAlessandrini Jun 19, 2003 02:04 PM

Well, one of my female couperi that had the single egg “stuck” high up in the uterus had successful surgery yesterday.

My vet (Dr. Dan Meakin) was able to locate the egg’s exact location using ultrasound, and then managed to remove the egg by making only a very tiny incision in the ovaduct.

Today she is active and alert and appears to be looking for food!

I know you must be relieved. Does the Doc think she'll be OK to breed again? Did he nail down the cause of the binding in that one?

He said he didn't see any reason she would not be able to breed again.

As for the cause...it's really anyone's guess.

Nice to hear a happy ending after some of the depressing egg binding experiences we've heard this year. Hope she continues to make a full recovery!
