New to the game..

corsimorphs Jun 16, 2004 11:10 AM

I have been breeding Ball Pythons for a few years and after being exposed to a few Leopard Geckos this past weekend I have been obsessed with there personalities and beauty!! So, I have a few questions about keeping these little beauties!!

What would be a good setup in a rack for Leos? Such as substrate? (paper towel?) how many hides? dry vs. humid? Water of course.. Calcium powder? and most of all temps? My snake room is about 82 degrees ambient racks run about 90 hot 84 cool..

I know to keep males separate except when breeding with the ladies and then only one male in a tub at a time.. Is this right?

How many females can be housed in a 24"X16"X7" container? I also have 38"X18"X7" containers???

Is a 10 qt container enough room for a single male?

Can you house mixed sex hatchlings together?

How do you sex a Leo?

I guess that it enough for now!

Thanks in advance to every one that responds!!!

Paper towel is fine, I also have used nothing, they seem alright on it. One humid hide, one dry for each leo (more leos can share, but definitly have one for everyone 1. Calcium powder is always a good idea, especially for breeding females. 84 cool is still a little hot, try to egt it down to 78-80 if you can and 88-90 on the hot end.

Correct.

I would say about three or four, up to six in the larger containers. Make sure they are all about the same size though.

Maybe a little bigger would be better for an adult male, a baby would be fine in this though.

Hatchlings, yes, subadults, no.

How do you sex a Leo?
Males have two bumps after the vent.
