MY FIRST NIGHT DRIVE

Obediah2 Jun 16, 2004 11:36 AM

I've been reading posts here for months and finally got the chance to do some "herping" of my own. My friend and I didn't really know what we were doing, but armed with a field guide, a car and headlamps we found some cool stuff.

4 side winders
2 leafnosed snakes
1 lyre snake (we played with it for a while because we thought
it was a gopher snake)
2 banded geckos

I have great photos, but I don't know how to post them. Thanks to all the people that have been teaching me without knowing it!

Jake

Way to go out there. It must have been really exciting actually picking up all those snakes with your bare hands. Im anxious to see your pictures ASAP. Who is this friend you are speaking of??

Maybe we can go Herping soon together!!

starting road hunting is easy.....stopping is the hard part!

Sounds like a great night for your first night! Congrats. Now you just have to learn to adjust to nights when you find nothing!

Sounds like good hunting there. Where did you find these? Pretty soon, you will figure out which roads are better than others and find more, but it sounds like you picked a good spot there.
