Even with my knowledge of obscure common names used by petshops (I work at one) I have no idea what sort of gecko you speak of
. Try and obtain a picture or a scientific name for it and we'll be able to help you.
They are other wise know as banded sand geckos, and Isreali Dune geckos.
If you have a source for a pair of Israeli Dune Geckos, let me know! I have been looking for some females for my male for quite some time. I have attached a photo of my high yellow male. I'd like to get a project going with him but he can't do it alone!
Their care is quite simple, much like that of a leopard gecko. They are hardy little geckos, and the males make chirping noises at night. I have seen them listed for $15-$50 each (pet store price on the high end). There is a caresheet on the Global Gecko Association website. I will attempt to link to it through this post, I don't know if that will work out, but hopefully you'll see a link in this post!
Again, please contact me directly if you have a source in the U.S. for this species.

These Israeli Dune Geckos are quite dark in coloration, like a medium charcoal. With their standered patterns, let me know. Warren Peterson

That's even better. I would like to experiment with the trait and see if this is a simple recessive or what. I'd actually RATHER get some normal colored females, although I don't really care what color phase they are. Come to think of it, I'd be interested in *any* S. sthenodactylus. Where do you live? Where are you getting them from? The only thing I want to make sure is that they are S. sthenodactylus, and not the petrii or doriae that I have seen for sale at several times and places in the last few months. We should continue this off the forum, send me an e-mail directly.
