I got a pair of cornsnakes about six months ago from a friend... the snakes were yearlings, one a ghost corn and one het for snow and blizzard. Well, I thought they were too young to breed and kept them together, like an idiot.
Of course, they bred and the female laid her eggs fine. I figured they'd be sterile and never hatch, but kept them around anyway. Two out of the six egg clutch died about three weeks in... the other four stayed looking okay, so I kept them around.... I just went and checked on my clutch of snow corn eggs ( I had the four odd eggs in there on the side of the dish ) and found that two have slits in them and little snakes getting ready to pop out. The other two are shrunken in a little and show signs of movement!!! Looks like about a 60% hatch percentage for a snake just a little over a year old and not even 20 inches yet!!!
Though it was accidental and i was worried about the female, she is gaining weight back like a champ and is doing great. She promises to be quite a promising addition to my breeding colony.
