The only reptiles I would even suggest would be leopard geckos and anoles. Most ten year olds are not going to want to put the time into the "bigger" reptiles. If you feel that your ten year old is able to research, handle, feed, clean, and afford to take care of a larger reptile maybe try a bearded dragon. There really is no such thing as a cheap reptile. Even anoles which cost about$7 end up costing a lot more when all is said and done.
well, im the ten year old. and i have a beardie. im talking tegus, iggys, monitors.
I'm glad that there are some kids who take responsibility! If you're ready to move to something larger rhino iguanas are really cool. Just remember how big they get. You must have cool parents. Mine wouldn't let me get any reptiles. You know choosing a reptile is a personal thing. I would suggest reading some care sheets on this site and just researching something that interests you. I know uromastyx are not huge, but they are cool too. How old is your beardie? I'm going to get one in August.
7 or 8 months old. something is stunting her growth and i want to fix that problem before i get a big liz. and my parents arent that cool! i have to really try to get herps through begging and stuff and all they buy are food items.
well it depends if you are going to take the time to tame it adn how big you want it to get.green ameivas are common and get 2 feet long.knight anoles get as big as most beardeds.water dragons are cool and get to three foot.blue tongues get to 2 feet.plated lizards are about the size of beardeds.gold tegus get to 3 feet but you must be willing to take the time and patience to care for them because most grow up mean and nasty.european lagless lizards get to 4 foot long and are a docile adn easy to care for pet.im a 15 year old and i have the same rules as you since i was 6(also not allowed to have snakes).the biggest lizard i have right now is a uro.believe me its going to be hard to get them to agree with something over 3 feet.hope this helps

i think ill get a b/w tegu.
hey cillie,
im 15 and a huge animal person. i have lots of animals, mainly reptiles. you are 10 and as it seems in your prior writings that you are responsible and you have a beardie which is cool. you should think about what animal you can afford to buy and to take care of. a good rule of thumb in buying a reptile is to buy all the material for the animal when it is full grown or at least large enough to where it will not be cramped in 2 months when it has grown. always remember that you have to buy bulbs every 5 months or so. i have 1.0.2 Chinese Water Dragons, 0.0.1 Brown Basilisk, 1. Veiled Chameleon, 1.1 Savannah Monitors, 1.1 Macklots Pythons, 8 coturnix quail, 2 parrots, 2 tarantulas, 10 mice, 3 rats, and then i breed crickets, mealworms, waxworms, and lobster roaches. I would recommend getting a water dragon, they are very calm if you handle them enough and all of mine come when called and eat from my hand. a savannah monitor can get any where from 3 to 5 feet long and can be aggressive if you dont buy if from a baby and then hold it everyday. they can be great pets. and you shouldnt complain about your parents not buying you anything you want. you will respect and cherish your the things you buy for yourself rather than have bought for you much more. every animal i listed plus the 50 button quail eggs i have in the incubator and that other animals im getting in august i have bought for myself and i cherish each and every one. i hope that this all helps you. good luck. and god bless.
