iamjason Jun 16, 2004 06:36 PM

does anyone use one of these? do you like it? i cant seem to find much info on it. even the exoterra website only gives a few words. is it quiet? a/c or battery operated? would anyone reccomend the fogger over a regular humidifier?

I have a fogger in my veiled chams cage. They are kind of neat. I think it was a waste of money. It doesn't really help the humidity at all. It would work much better for something kept in an all glass cage. Save your money- use a regular humidifier.

agreed...nice if you have dart frogs but for chams in a screen cage....useless

For the size of most cham cages it won't raise the humidity much unless it runs all the time, so you'll be refilling the reservoir a lot. A regular ultrasonic humidifier produces a larger volume of mist that is pushed by a fan. It won't need to run as often, the water will stay cleaner in the closed reservoir, and less chance the cham will touch the nebulizer disk. The little foggers are relatively expensive compared to a room humidifier.

i bought one a few months ago (its in the trash now) i replaced the little disk in it 3 times probably becuase i was using tap water so i went out and bought a humidifier and it works alot better than the fogger the humidifier actually raises the humidity so take it from me buy the humidifier

That's a good reminder...you definitely need to use demineralized water for the fogger, and it will also be easier on the humidifier. Minerals build up on the nebulizer disk and damage it. When I clean my humidifier I use vinegar to dissolve any minerals from my water, but if you use RO or bottled distilled water it makes this much easier.

Yeah, do yourslef a favor and buy a cool mist, ultrasonic humidifier instead of the fogger. Some people use PVC piping or something equivilent to direct the mist direclty into the cage.

Don't waste your money! It would not do a cham any good. I did get one for my Helmeted Iguana and it worked well for about 8-9 months. Nobody told me not to use tap water. The second one fried itself as soon as I plugged it in, Exo Terra replaced it and the replacment lasted only two months.
