Have FEEDing problems?

johnnyMoney Jun 16, 2004 09:34 PM

I just bought a adult female gecko (age is unknown, maybe a year old) this past saturday (6-11-04), and i was trying to feed it the past couple of days with crickets and it hasn't eat them. It turns out she was pregant, and she had 2 eggs. My question is,
1.) its know been almost 5 days since she last ate and one day after delivering 2 eggs, should i try feeding her again, or let her relax for a couple days?
2.) another thing is, she doesn't seem to eat my crickets, id rather not try meal worms (my parents would hate the idea of worms in the refrigerator), so should i continue tryin to feed her crickets, Maybe even buy some new ones!!!, or should i just go out a buy some meal worms. (dont forget, this is after she laid eggs!)
3.) Do geckos eat any type of fruit or vegetable?

any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Maybe she's a bit tired to run after the crickets. I think you should try mealworms. You can easily keep them in a plasctic container with some wheatbran or oatmeal and a small slice of potato. I dont put mine in the fridge at all.

Did you get her at the Havre De Grace? If so from the Zulich's? Then it will probably only eat mealworms. Her geckos have only every eaten mealworms.

If she isn't from the Zulich's I would still recommend mealworms. My 36 gram female eats full size superworms. Thats 2 inches of thrashing worm. Superworms cannot be refrigerated and will not turn into beetles as fast as mealworms. If she just dropped eggs I would try something like pinkies or waxworms.

Sorry I've been rambling on and on. Just trying to help...

In the past I have used beef baby food when they were stubborn eaters. Sometimes mine would eat it off my finger other times I had to use a seringe. You could try it. If she doesn't eat a lot she mibht at little get a little something in her system. I hope this helps.
