spikeyhairedpunk May 13, 2003 11:22 PM

K the tank im making is gonna be 7h x 6L x4w feet
i was wondering if someone could give me a good estimate as too how many lights i should need.

Also ive heard of people using blacklights or something similar to emulate the moons rays, becuase apparently thats important to some lizards? does it have any effect on a dragon?

I never heard of emulating the moon, some people do use black lights to keep the tank warm at night. Dragons sleep at night, the moon light thing is probably for nocturnal critters. In a cage that large you will need more than a black light to heat the cage at night, I am hooking up ceramic heat emitters in my new room, 11x7x5 and for the daytime I have a pair of 160 watt mercury vapor bulbs. In the summer the room should be pretty warm anyway, and then in the winter the dragons have their very own steam heater (the house is 125 years old). Hopefully we will be able to regulate it pretty well.

the number of lights you wll need depend on howmany lizards there are, make sure that all can bask at the same time when they want too also use uva,uvb bulbs like the arcadia or the powersun,
