Toe shed

Gecko_chick Jun 16, 2004 11:37 PM

Ok I just tried posting this and I lost it.. LoL Well my gecko last shed about 2 weeks ago. Well she didn't completely shed any of her toes on her back legs. DO you think this could be a reason why she's not eating?

BTW both of my albinos going on strikes they won't eat for a week or so then the eat again. Its like they go through these phases. My patternless and high yellows don't do this....Its weird and it worries me.

Thanks for your advice

Danielle

Can you give us the tempreature info and tank setup? It'll help in solving your problem.

My geckos will only eat every 3-4 days. I am guessing they just get full. They are healthy and have laid unfertile eggs (not with male).

Well my girls are in a 10 gal setup. They have a UTH, and 2 hides. I don't have a humid hide. They are also on paper towels.
The girl that didn't shed her back toes Just laid Her first clutch. She only had one egg. She isn't eating today. Both of my girls look about the size of your gecko. They are very beautiful and helathy looking. It just worries me they don't eat very much. Thank you for your help. BTW I've been giving princess a bath to help with her toes.

Do you have a moist hide, and what kind of subsrtate do you use?

Get a moist q-tip, moisten the geckos toes, and gently rub the skin off. It may take longer if the skin is really dry.
Also, if the geckos are healthy, they are not going to starve themselves. I had geckos that would go days, or even weeks without feeding. My male gecko once went of eating for 2 months, but was really fat.
