Why Don't My Cresteds Lay Eggs

Remedy Jun 17, 2004 12:30 AM

I introduced my female to my male crested in march and still no eggs!

The heat and humidity levels are as suggested for crested geckos. They both are adults and are healty eaters (dusted crickets once per week and baby food / crested gecko diet two or three times per week). There are two plants in the cage, as well as 2 bamboo sticks about 1.5" in diameter. During the day, they each sleep inside their own bamboo stick and are quite secure in there. I mist every evening.

Can anyone tell me why they havent produced any eggs yet??

(This is the male)

I would guess that it's a combination of low temps and not enough food. You say the heat is "as suggested," but you didn't say who suggested it or what the temperature actually is. I give mine a hotspot of 80 degrees.

Good looking male, by the way.

Thank you for replying, Anthony.

In regards to the heat issue, i was referring to de Vosjoli's rhac book. what kind of fixture/bulb combination do you use to get the hot spot? what are your lighting cycles like?

as for feeding, could you please recommend a weekly diet??

thank you so much for your help.
