HB1319 Withdrawn by Sponsor

wildtropics Jun 17, 2004 10:19 AM

At 7:09PM on Tuesday, June 15, Representative Warren Triche withdrew HB1319, the big exotic cat bill, from the LA House docket. An amendment which would have required permits for non-indigenous constrictors that "can" reach in excess of 12 feet was very vague and considered by LDWF to be unenforceable. The Louisiana Gulf Coast Herpetological Society Legislative Committee wishes to thank all the LGCHS members, friends, neighbors and associates for the numerous phone calls, faxes and emails to the Senators & House Members in opposition to this bill. We stand ready to assist other Herp Societies in their hour of need.
