Is it unhealthy for a lizard to eat too much?

frecklesandsandy Jun 17, 2004 04:28 PM

I just recently got a second leopard lizard and when we fed it waxworms, it ate 27 of them! And then, after we bought crickets it at 7 of them in addition to the 27 wax worms! This is all in her stomach at once and it's not like this at all with the first lizard. She only eats a couple of wax worms and crickets at a time and she's not skinny or anything. She's quite hefty. Could there be anything wrong with her?? She looks like she's gonna explode!

Please help!

P.S. the lizard size is about 4 inches from the head to where the tail starts and 12 inches from the head to the tail.

Oh, and here's a picture of her. She's the one on the bottom and the first lizard is the one on the top. See the difference? She looks a lot bigger in person too. And it's not just that she's fat...her body is small...it's her stomach that's big from eating!

If you ask on the leopard gecko board they can help. Your pic did not come out..I usually only give mine a certain amount like 10 mealies and a few crickets on any given day.It sounds like she is about the same size as yours too. I think they cant help themselves but eat anything they see moving(this is just my opinion). Some people say to feed them whatever they will eat but it sounds like yours doesnt know when to quiet..hopw everything turns out okay..
