does a mhd need uvb or not?

It hasn't been proven either way yet. We provide UVB for ours and I think most people here do as well. If nothing else it hasn't been shown to hurt them and is better for the plants.

I had several babies who developed deformities last summer when my UVBs should have been replaced. I had the worst problems in the tanks that had no UVB due to the number of clutches I hatched last year. This may not be proven, but to me that is proof enough. My neighbor who earned two babies by helping me out while I was on the mend didn't use a uvb and although one of the babies was developing nicely the other was the most twisted and deformed thing I have ever seen. He had to be put down as he got to the point that he couldn't swallow. I will admit that I didn't have them checked by a vet to confirm that it was MBD but can think of no other explanation. I will not keep these without the uvb and have revised my caresheet to express this.

Hows that new MHD ? LOL I don' post much here, I go to so many of the forums, but I also have a dragon, Gorgo, and shes a fatty ! Very sweet girl, Oh and I use UVB also ! Hey se ya on the collared forum girl! Eve
