Hey cillie!

I wanted to respond to your last post in the other thread, but it's getting too long and sinking in the forum so we can talk more here.

You love your Squealgie very much and that is great, I bet she can tell it too. Do the best you can for her and keep trying as much as you can to get your family to understand what's right and care for her as well. It may take a long time but maybe she will grow on them.

This is what I think you can try. If you can convince your parents to let you get Squealgie a fecal check that will be a good first step, then maybe while you are at the vet's office you can talk to the doctor about any other concerns you have. Maybe ask them to help you talk to your parents about it. I think if an adult like a vet who knows a lot about animals were to talk with your mom and dad about it they might have a good chance of teaching your parents how important it is to give your lizard great care.

I hope for you and Squealgie all the best. Keep coming here and asking questions. Learning about the things you love is awesome! The more you learn the better you and Squealgie will be. Good luck.

ill trie that, and a parasite infection is all i really care about. she dosnt eat very much but thats not a prob cause she looks over weight! oh, by the way, can uvb get through plastic well? theres a plastic barrier between the light and squealge.

Maybe she looks fat because her body is so small for her age, but 50 grams for a nine month old seems very underweight to me. Your average beardie hits that around 3-4 months, give or take a few. A growing beardie should eat a lot, so if she isn't eating much she should be so she can grow big! Maybe parasites are all you care about but if there is anything else going on you need to know and care about that too. Hopefully she is just a slow grower and if you get on the right track with the suppliments and UVB and getting her eating well she will be great. I think you should have a professional (the vet) check her out and tell him everything you do for her and be sure, cuz you want her to have the very best.

I don't think the UVB can get through plastic at all. Do you have a screen lid or anything you can shine it through?

uvb light cannot go through glass or plastic. a screen mesh or wire top will also cut down on the UV that get through (as much as 50%).
UV bulbs are made from quartz to allow the uv rays to get through it.
