Rocks and Indians

r3ptile Jun 17, 2004 09:29 PM

I know there is little physical difference between African Rock Pythons and Indian Pythons but is there any difference as far as size/temperment/husbandry? I have recently become fascinated with Indian pythons and am considering adding one to my collection of large pythons/constrictors. I know theyre protected by CITES.

As far as size the record size of a Indian Python is about 21 feet, the record for the African Rocks is 32'2"...7 inches less than the Retic record, at 32'9". Although Indian pythons usually stay smaller than 21 feet, males staying in the 12' or 13' areas, maybe some smaller, females around the 16' or 17 possibly. I dont know the temperments of Indians, but i think they too can have a nasty attitude, ive heard of it, dont quote me on that.
