Personally if I was you I would get rid of the sand, others may tell you different. Sand has been known to cause many implications including death from impaction, especially in young leos. I have used sand, carpet, tile and paper towel, I would recommend the last two most. Here is a list of thing you need:

At least a 10 gallon tank, costs about $10 or more if the one you have is too small

A heating pad (or heating lamp), costs $10- $20 for a cheap one

A thermometer or thermostat touching the floor of the tank (to make sure the temperature does not get too hot or too cold)

A humid hiding spot to aid shedding (just cut a hole in a tupperwear container)

Another dry hiding spot

A water dish

A small dish full of straight calcium carbonate (however, you also need to dust food items with a calcium/vitamin D3 supplement)

I think I've listed all of the necessities, if anyone sees any I missed please correct me. Any more questions just ask.

Take a tupperware container. at least 10"x10"x6". Put a 5"x5" paper towel down, soak the paper towel. put some kind of hiding place over the towel (one with no bottom). Put another dry hiding place somewhere in the cage. take a snapple cap or similar sized item. Put calcium powder in it. If you are feeding mealworms use a dish they can't get out of and put in 1 inch worms. Put a heatpad on the bottom hooked up to a rheostat and keep the temperature between 82 and 88 degrees.

Just my 2 cents.
