Glad to hear that he's doing well, Russ. I hope he turns out to be everything you want him to.
For anyone that is interested here's a little background on the Tegu. A few months back there was a huge influx of WC baby Gold Tegus that hit the market here. We saw hundreds at the local shows. At one such show one of the vendors came to us with this Tegu explaining that it had some problems with it's eyes and was having trouble hunting and eating. It was examined at MSU and determined that there was an infection going on in the eyes and that one eye was structurally abnormal. We treated with antibiotics and within days his vision improved remarkably. He's been an eating machine since and he's also a terrific escape artist!! This little lizard recognizes any opportunity to jump straight vertical to escape an open enclosure.
Thanks for adopting him, Russ. I was afraid that we'd have both Gold Tegus for a long time. He will have a wonderful home with you and maybe you'll grow up the largest Gold Tegu ever!!
