With all the years of experience with Ball Pythons on this forum, I was wondering what the oldest BP anyone on here has ever had.

It wasnt my ball python but I work at the philadelphia zoo and I believe we had the longest lived ball.

I think the oldest one that lived was 40 years old. One of the ball pythons I have is 8 years old.

Was 49 years and some odd months at Phila. Zoo. A friend of mine has a 34 year old ball, (yes, he had it for 34 years, so it is that old) and says it's older than most of the herpers he knows...LOL.

I still have my first ball python. He was most likely a couple of years old when I purchased him. I have now had him for at least 29 years.

But Colette, aren't you just 30 or 31 anyway???

Don't worry Dan, she only has eyes for reptiles. And though I've been called a snake in the past, it's just not the same.

Hey, I watched the video. Grrrrrrrrrr

Doesn't it stink getting older? My wife keeps threatening to trade me in. That's ok though, this year (Dec), I get to trade her in on two 20s. Although, I'd settle for a Pied.

This reminds me of a shirt I saw for sale at a show...then never again, so I made my own.
It said, " I got a snake for my wife. Good trade, huh?"

My son's insisted on the sibling versions....
"I got a snake for my sister. Good trade, huh?" and
"I got a snake for my brother. Good trade, huh?"

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

I like that! Maybe I'll get one for Daytona this year. The wife won't be going.

Do you notice any changes in behaviour, eating patterns, mating behaviour etc. as a BP grows that old?

Thanks,
Joel

Mine just turned 16 years old this week and I have had him for 14 of those.

Rich_Crowley Jun 18, 2004 05:26 PM

I have a female that is 25yrs old. I have had her for 8yrs and the person who owned her before got her as a hatchling. I received the animal as a result of his early death.

She was 1900g when I received her...she bred two years later.
She is know 3200g and is ready to reproduce again. She lays the largest eggs I have every seen so this year will certainly be interesting.
