basking snapper

I've noticed that the only time my larger snapper ever basks is when I am gone for the day. I've come home a few times with him sitting on the rock with his legs hanging over....then within minutes of being home, he'll plunge into the water. He is NOT shy at all, but seems to bask only when I am gone. My smaller snapper hasn't basked since she was a hatchling. Here is a pic from this afternoon. -Phew
