I was intrested in builging my own cage, but was wondering how hard it would be and if anyone who has done this before could give me some suggestions, on how to get started or where I can get some info on cage designs.

The cage itself I didn't build but I amde all the shelving inside & mounted the light fixtures. The shelving is made otu of polystyrene (aka styrofoam) & covered in tile grout. Just make sure if you use styrofoam that it is completely covered. It's poinsonous if ingested.

I'm impressed good work with the design. Is it O.K. to leave the lights hanging inside the inclosure?

=========
Expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) or "styrofoam" is NOT poisonous. It does produce a choking or impaction hazard if injested due to its mechanical properties (very lightweight 'beads' will easily stick to a lizard's tongue and can be swallowed), thus possibly blocking airways or the intestinal tract.
