Fluffy (argh i hate that name) is doing better. i tryed feeding him rasberry juice (because he wouldnt drink normal water) in water (cause the previous owner said he liked rasberries) from a syrenge. he drank it up. then i put mushed up crickets in the solution and he drank it too. today he is way more active and moving around and climbing. he still wont touch his veggies and fruit though but i think he is hunting for crix. there is a rock wall in the back of the tank aand wedged in there tight. its not real rock but plaster anyway the crix crawl through holes to the back while he hunting and breed there. the chirping is aggrivating fluffy. should i risk taking him out to pull rock wall out get rid of the crix patch the holes and put it back. or should i wait till hes used to me to do that. oh
buy the different insects and since they are expenzive i breed em in a plastic tank ousit and have no trouble with it. anyway when he looks at me he opens his mouth and holds it open and stares at me like that. does that mean he wants to be fed from the syrenge?

That's great that he drank the watered down raspberry juice. You're on the right track!

As far as keeping crickets in Fluffy's enclosure I would have to advise against that. Mainly because they can come out at night when Fluffy is sleeping and chew on him! I'm not joking. I've seen wounds to beardies eye lids from crickets munching on them! It was horrible. So yes, I would patch up the holes and get all of the crickets out of his enclosure. I use a large Sterlite (spelling?) container to feed my beardies crickets. That way I don't have to hunt down the ones that they miss. Here is a photo of Tiki in our feeding container...

We also use the same size container for bathing. They work great!

When he gapes his mouth open he is thermoregulating. That's the only way beardies have to cool themselves off.

They can't sweat like we can. Sometimes our beardies just get a little lazy and don't want to move to a cooler part of the tank so they gape to cool down. This is a good sign, it means he's getting warm enough!

If you don't like his name that much, then why don't you just name him something else?
I really don't think he will care.

Its great that he is doing better though!
