temperatures for incubation

crestedkyle Jun 18, 2004 08:54 PM

hello everyone!

one of my female cresties just laid it's first clutch of eggs. actually, this is MY first clutch of eggs also! Thanks to a little Barry Manilow, and some old fashioned patience. I didn't even know that she was pregnant, until i found the eggs in their cage tonight!

my question is, i live in Canada and right now it's in the 80's temperature wise. that means that during the night it is usually in the mid 70's, but during the day it is reaching 85 degrees, is this ok for incubating the eggs? or is that too hot? i know that mid 70's is o.k, but i'm wondering about the mid 80's. i have also put a uv light about 6 inches above the plastic container. should i leave this light on 24 hours a day? i have sealed the plastic container and poked a couple of holes in the top for some ventilation. the eggs are nestled in some moist bed a beast.

can anyone answer some of my questions and/ or give me some added advice?

Thanks for any info in advance!

cheers!

looking around at the many caresheets available...it doesnt seem wise to incubate them at temperatures above 80.
