I do not own a BD, but I would really like one. I will not get one until I am sure that I can properly take care of it. I am a college student and sometimes I need to go home for the weekend. What I need to know is this:

If I have my lights on a timer, fed my beardie all it could eat before leaving, left it some salad and pellets out, and had a water bowl in the cage, would it be ok by itself for, say 3-4 days? Let's assume this beardie is about 6 months old.

Thanks,
Chrissy

Well chrissy, the simple answer is NO. It seems like that would be a fine idea but these little guys need daily care. BD's need to have their cage spot cleaned daily, and freash water every day. For some reason or another BD's love to run right through what ever lies in there path and that includes their own droppings. When they become soiled, that is when health problem start to happen. As BD's grow they go through six different life stages, and at sim months your dragon will be entering its subadult/sexual stage. During this stage BD's need extra attenton when it comes to their foods and vitamins, so its not the best idea to just leave with greens in a boul. The best advice I counld give you would be to have a friend come once a day and take care of the little guy. Warren

Seems to me a college would have some people that are flexible enough to handle a few crickets, moisten some pellets and fix up a mini-salad. However my college dorm setting might not match your situation very well.

Probably, but I'm not sure I could find someone I trust to take care of it around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Until I can convince myself otherwise, I will have to keep from buying a dragon. Thanks for the replies!
