The amount of substrate depends on the need. For instance, gravid females start off with two feet. Lone individuals and young ones, get a few inches(indoors). But if there outdoors, then they get a couple feet, the reason is, they need the depth to buffer the heat or cold outside(now its hot).

So again, depth is more about whats needed.

Remember the question is about Lacies, not burrowing monitors. With burrowing monitors, deep substrate is more like a running wheel, it not only gives them a home, but constant exercise as well.

And yes I sure do have hatchling Lacies for sale, I just forget to put out an add. I plan to soon. Cheers FR

My substrate varies in depth from around a foot to two feet deep, with lots of logs, bits of bark etc to dig in between and under. I also provide a nest box, which has a slightly different substrate and is heated. This coming spring I am contemplating ditching the nest box and heating part of the substrate but it remains to be seen what I end up doing.

Not sure if that part of your post was meant for me as well, or just FR.

Yes, I've bred my lacies and yes I'll be selling babies, but no I can't sell any to you.

Give you a hint as to why:

This ain't Kansas, Dorothy.

(I'm in Oz)

You were correct in your assumption, the later was for FR. I think i read somewhere prior that you weren't allowed to import or export animals over there which is why i didnt ask this to you but that was a funny ass post nevertheless. lol/thanks
