O/T question about a uro

jeune18 Jun 19, 2004 01:48 PM

i know there is a uro forum but quite frankly the people in there scare me and eve said it would be ok if i asked you guys some questions. i think i know some of you from the collareds forum.
anywho, i have a mali that i rescued about 5 weeks ago and i am trying to fatten her up. she was 192 grams but had tape worms and dropped to 170 (and i thought she was gaining weight!) how fat should i get her? she just looks so skinny compared to pictures. i would say nose to tail end she is about 10 inches.
i have squash, zuccini, green beens, mustard green, bee pollen, bird seed, dried soy beans (they look like peanuts, i thought she needed some protein) and i throw some insects in there once a week. i am having a hard time finding fresh peas but i heard they were really fattening. anything i should add or take away? i wasn't really sure about the soy beans but she seems to love them.

Just keep feeding all she will eat. You could try avacado as it is really high in fat also. Also with skinny chucks I have added broken up hard boiled egg just to get weight on but never as a staple. Another good thing is monkey bisket. Some of the exotic pet stores sell it but again only to put weight on. Worms take a lot out od an animal. If they are taken care of and she is eating good just be patient she will put the weight on. Also try to keep her as stress free as possible-not a lot of handling. Good luck and keep us posted. This is kind of a catch all forum-we talk about everything here. Good Luck!

ps. post a pic if you can.

she goes for a second treatment a week from monday and she is getting a big check up then too.
now that i am at my parent's house for the summer i will steal the digital cam for a while and snap good photos of the lizards
