JulianS Jun 19, 2004 02:45 PM

its been going on a week now since ive owned him and id think he shouldve gotten used to me by now nut he still wont solid food. he wont eat fruits, veggies or crickets (im soon gonna try meal worms). i have to mash up his food and derve it to him in syrenge. ontop of that he wont eat the mashed stuff unless there is rasberries in it (the breeder who sold him told me it was his favourite food) but he wont eat them solid either! And he keeps climbing on the rock wall in the back to the top but he cant come down i think. does this mean he wants out?

Sorry about my grammar. I write these too fast without thinking about what I am writing.

I have had babies that won't eat very much for almost two weeks after I got them. Depending on their size and age you may not want this to happen. I would hold of on the fruits for now. You need to get it eating salads and some form of live prey. Silkworms are an excellent staple food and picky eaters will usually eat them. Meal worms are probably not something you wany to get it started on, at least not yet. They are not all that digestible and they are more like a candy food so you could actually make matters worse by offering those to him. Sometimes what I do is put small superworms in their salad bowls and they crawl around under the salad. Babies will eat the salad more readily if it is moving. You can also try handfeeding salads. Just make sure the pieces are small and move them around in front of it. It is critical that you show patience and get it eating salads. I'm not sure what size cricket you are feeding but try a smaller size. If they are too big they can be intimidating to a young dragon, not to mention harmful.
