Hello.
I recently noticed some very tiny white bugs in the bedding of my Red Wigglers. What are these bugs? And are they harmful to the worms and the pets I feed then to?
Thanks very much.

You are probably gonna want to check and see if I am right...but look up Springtails and see if that is your bug. I have been told you may find them in some beddings, and that they are harmless.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

Hi Sonya,
Thanks for your reply.
It turns out that they are mites. It seems that they were attracted to the oatmeal that I was feeding the worms. I was informed that the mites are not really a danger to the worms, or herps, except when their populations increase to extreme levels. I was also informed that the feeding of greens instead of grains will help decrease the likelihood of mite infestation.
Thanks again Sonya.

You will find pics of many different critters that can live in the soil and by clicking on the most similar one you can find more detailed info and whether or not it is harmful to your worm bed.
