Ive had my Niger for about 8 mo, and I have a few questions....

bengalensis Jun 19, 2003 06:29 PM

I was given this little fellow by a friend of mine who almost killed it. He was soo skinny and emaciated that i had to dropper feed hime for weeks before he would eat on his own. Thank you Adwalla!(the juice company)

He eats great great now, and looks like a rolly poly! I feed him the babygreen mix that I give my Beardies, I just take the spinach out because Ive been told that its not good for Uros. Is that correct? He also gets various fruits, and cactus from time to time as well as the occasional insect.

Whats the best bedding for them? Ive used soil, sand and even bark. On a caresheet I read, it recomended "Pretty Bird" Bird Seed, because if they eat it, its digetsable, so you dont have to worry about impaction...hhmmm

As far as sexing, I really dont know if its a boy...how do you tell?

Also, whatever it is, I was thinking about getting it a mate, but I will NOT buy WC. Are there any good sources for CB Nigers? My little guy is simply stunning with his bright orange colors. I really want to find one as pretty as this one.
Thanks for any info.,
Michelle

I read the post below about captive bred Nigers... Wonder how much they want for one and my little guy IS a guy! He is super bright orange with black striping. The guy that gave him to me name him Chester after the cheetos cheetah. So now I gotta find a nice little Niger Female...
