Handling?

stevie16 Jun 19, 2004 04:42 PM

I just got a brand new male crested gecko at the west coast reptile show today. I asked the vendor show me that he was tame. He took him out of the container no problem and he was pretty mellow. I put him in his new home and about two hours after tried to handle him and he freaked out and ran away as fast as he could. Probably too soon to try and hold him. My question is will he calm down in days to come and how should I get him accustomed to handling?

I have noticed that they are more docile and easier to handle mid day rather than at night. It isnt uncommon, for me at least, for them to run around a bit before i coax them onto my hand.

The only reason it would be docile in the mid-day is because it was just sleeping. When you wake up do you want to get out of bed! Your gecko just needs to get used to being held by a different owner, that's all.
