EGG!?

WuTangHerps Jun 19, 2004 05:00 PM

Hey i found this is my cage a couple days ago. It looks like an egg to me - is it? It's quite yellow which is kinda wierd. Could it being yellow mean anything. Also if this IS infact an egg does that mean I must have a male and female? Or can a female make an egg by herself (perhaps its infertile or a 'dud' or something) Anything you can tell me would be great thank you...

it might be a dud, not sure tho.

but i do remember that when i had a green anole like 10years ago i had random dud eggs every now and then.

now, my knight anole is laying dud eggs. layed 3 in the last month and a half. hasn't had a cagemate in one year as of july 1st.

I've not kept brown anoles, but female greens do lay infertile eggs. I find them every once in a while.

I never seen any of my green or brown anoles lay ONE single egg but it's possible. Mine usually laid 3-4 at a time. If it's yellow its definately a dud. I only ever had 2 anole eggs out of maybe 20 hatch. Young anoles are a major pain to take care of just so you know. They will require very small bugs like fruit flies that are very limited in sale at pet shops. IMO anoles are not worth the trouble to breed/incubate the eggs or take care of the hatchlings. The young are very small maybe 1 1/2 inches in length.

if it is yellow it is dead if white alive keep under direct light from your tank. so yes it is an egg.
