I've used sand ever since mine were about 6 months old - they are now over a year old, and I've had no problems. Sand works well and is easy to spot clean. The only pain in the a$$ it presents is having to pour it all through a fine sifter to get small rocks and stuff out. After that though I like it. My girl likes to dig in it, but my male doesn't care either way because he never comes off his basking spot except to eat and do his mating dance.

do you use play sand like from home depot or that stuff u can buy at the pet store?

I have used both, but I was referring to the playsand at Home Depot or Lowes. It's like $5.00 for 50 lbs. I still keep my Leopard Geckos in that sand from the petstore, but they are in 10 gallon aquariums so it doesn't take much.
