Shell Growth or Problem?

dragonmlv Jun 19, 2004 07:13 PM

Hello Everyone,
About a month ago my adult male Russian got a lighter colored ring aroung his shell. I assumed this was new shell growth, even though I thought he was fully growth, but it hasn't darkened up and seems to be getting a bit bigger. It also seems sort of soft. I'm posting a picture of him below. Can someone please tell me what it is? If it is new shell growth, will it darken up eventually? Just want to make sure he's ok Thanks for any help!

Looks like normal shell growth to me.

It will firm up and darken with time.

You may also have a blonde. I used to worry about my russians growth b/c they were dark like that and then I found out that she was just a blonde. click on the link and you will see pics of her and my other torts.

Congratulations on having a healthy, growing Russian. Perfectly normal...I have three, among the tribe, that have growth rings just like yours.

Same goes for me, the color was really light, but it was never soft. It has stayed light colored as well.
