Hello jeff,
Congratulations! I was hoping you could answer a couple of questions for me. Those guys are live-bearers, right? well, how long is their gestation period? Also, are asios capable of caudal autonomy? It looks like toward the tip of the tail on the male, it might be regrown. Or is it just that they don't have spikes on the end of their tails? Thanks man for your insight, and good luck with your HLs.
-Phil
Hey Phil,
HLs don't regenerate their tails, once they're broken they stay that way. Your right the ends of the tails just aren't as spikey.
The asio or Giant HLs lay eggs in late summer. The incubation time is around 80 days which is kind of long compared to other egglaying HLs.
