Gray Treefrog Behavior

crazy_ewok Jun 20, 2004 12:15 PM

I've had my two gray treefrogs for about four days now, and I have a question about their behavior. One of them is usually a bright green and sleeps on a tree branch all the time. I guess this is normal, since they are nocturnal. The other one, however, is usually a light or dark gray, and spends most of his time trying to climb up one wall of the tank. He never seems to go to the other side of the tank and all day today he's been crawling up and down this one wall. He did this last night too. Why is one frog doing this and not the other? Why is he doing this if he's supposed to sleep during the daytime?

Sounds normal for a frog getting acclimated to a new tank. Make sure your temps and humidity are acceptable for them, and that they have plenty of places to hide.

Yes they are, I think they were caught less than a week ago.

I had a pair of that i caught at a friends house and kept them a few weeks. While i had them they acted the same way, they ate and were otherwise healthy. whenever i opened the screen at night to feed them they would climb up to the top of the tank and just sit on the lip. And when they decided they wanted to eat they went back down. they were full of personality. good luck to you and your frogs
