Who has experience with infra-red thermometers?

chunks_89 Jun 20, 2004 12:58 PM

I looked at the site for the "TEMPGUN" ad and they look pretty cool. I have never knows for sure the exact basking site temps for my chams...
They're relatively cheap, even to ship here to Canada.
Do you guys find them good? worth it? amazing? fantastic? unreliable?

thanks!

I own a tempgun from tempgun.com and I find it to be extreamly accurate not to mention the instant reading. I tested it as I do with almost everything I get and it is within about .3ºs of a high quality digital thermometer I have that doesnt give an instant reading. So I would say go for it mine works great and I couldnt be more pleased. Not to mention the instruction manual that they include with it is typed by them and is rather funny. They included some humor into it.

Instead of tempgun. I've got a industrial grade IR temperature gun which I found it very useful. As mention, you can get an instant reading of cham's body temperature, temp of heat spot as well as accurate sureface temp. after misting. Thus, I believe it is the one (equipment) must get for reptile keeper.
