question about weird spot on Pogo's tail.....

pogo_the_dragon Jun 20, 2004 07:12 PM

Pogo has a 1"x1" portion on his tail that looks distinctly different than the rest of his tail...It's the same color but the scales seem puffy or swollen and are considerably larger making it noticable to see it's like that...Anyone have any idea why it would be like this or has anyone seen this before on there dragon????...I'll try to post a pic as soon as I can..Other than that everything seems okay...Pogo eats well...He is active (When he wants to be). His temps are okay in his tank.....The only thing I am concerned about is that fungus stuff I hear about because he had treatment with ALBON 3x...Is this what It could be????

My norbert had some spots like one on his knee and on his tail that I assumed it was just shed build up but today I took him out and there was a bit of a pinkish hue to it and he looked like it was sore! maybe even missing a few scales in those spots, now I am worried for him, he gets pelenty of greens, his tank is plenty warm, and I try to make sure there aren't too many crikets in there at night left over when I get to bed, I don't know what it could be and now I am worried will take him to the vet tommarow but if any one has advice please help, tried to staralize the spots and put some aloe vera on them, is there anything else I can do? what could it be?

A vet visit is always a good idea if you're really concerned. If something is wrong you can catch it early, and if everything is fine you get piece of mind.

I did want to let you know, though, that I had something similar I panicked about as well. It was a little patch of scales that were a paler color than the rest and didn't look like any normal shed I'd seen before.

It did turn out to just be unshed skin.

Also, when my big male sheds it takes a pinkish hue. I thought it was really odd the first time I noticed, but now it happens every time.

I hope for you guys it's just unshed skin, too.

The scales have actually enlarged in the area mentioned...Like double size...they just look puffy and swollen..I know how shedding looks and it's not like this...actually in the one pic it's about that same size...it's the same coloring as the rest of his skin...
