Well im about to ask a really stupid question perhaps...

I would love to have Carrick bred to a good looking lady, however, i dont have the room to raise babies, so doing this on my own isnt a possibility at this time (not that i wouldnt love to do so, as i really would) Does anyone actually use other peoples dragons to breed with their own? Im not looking for money but just to have a baby of his perhaps. Maybe this is a really stupid question, i have been around horses my whole life, bred them, raised them , traied them, showed them and sold them so i know the way things are done in that world, but i really dont know about it in this lizard world if anyone ever does it this way? I feel Carrick is a pretty good lookin kid, hes very healthy, hearty and perhaps would make some nice little dragons with the right lady and with the right breeder. You can laugh at me if you like =) i just kinda always wondered about it.......

First I would find someone close to you so you don't have to leave him too far from home. And someone you can trust..........

So where are you,, that might get you on the right track.

Reiko,

I'm currently looking around for a male for my Beardie Pumpkin. She is almost ready to breed I believe at 1 year and 400 grams. I want to wait a little bit to see if she is still growing much. I live in Santa Barbara, CA so I'm about 3 hours from you. I think Carrick and Pumpkin are two of the most famous dragons on the forum. They probably would have really drab looking babies but I'm sure they would turn out nice! (They both weren't what you'd call "lookers" when they were little). Here's a picture of her from last month. I'll send you a private email as well with some contact information.

yup he was a dull lil guy, but certianly did change although i liked him just as much in his baby clothes =)
Pumpkin is beautiful, certianly waiting a few more months would be a good idea, you would want to be sure she is done all of her growing, shes a beautiful dragon =)

Talk about your 'ugly ducklings' not that your dragons were ugly as babies...very nice strong patterns in both.

Have to say 'studding' isn't just limited to horses, it's common in cats and dogs breeding programs. I don't see why not with lizards....just have to keep track of the bloodlines of your dragons so you don't accidently breed brother and sister.

kg Jun 19, 2003 08:22 PM

I would have to get one too. I live 2 hours away from Santa Barbara and 2 hours away from San Diego. I think I live right between... Gotta email me if you guys decide to breed 'em.

reiko Jun 19, 2003 08:28 PM

could perhaps have nice babies, would be interesting to see what their babies would be like =) Wonder if they would have the same color or be dull as babies like they were......never know what you are gonna get...

If I were you....I would ask them to leave the female with you.....you are doing them a big favor by letting him stud....especially since you only wnat one of the babes......then you will know he's ok.....

I might take you up on it in 6 months when my awesome female comes to 18 months.....I live in Arizona but go to San Diego several times a year......so maybe we could make a deal then.....lol....if you haven't done so already with someone else.

kameron Jun 19, 2003 07:43 PM

I'd love to have Carrick breed with some of my ladies...Basker currently has a husband, but who says beardies can't "cheat!" Unfortunately, I bet you're no where near me....

Kameron

P.S. I'm actually looking for a leopard tortoise stud for my female...anyone near San Antonio, TX??? I'll give part of the resulting clutch!
