Male Gecko losing weight

k-townleos Jun 20, 2004 10:56 PM

Our 2 year old male is losing weight. Right now, his tail is still fat, but he's loosing weight on his body. We feed meal worms and occasionally crickets. There has been no major change in his lifestyle since we moved in April. He just seems disinterested in food. Also, his bm was runny yesterday instead of it's normal consistency. Should we be worried? Should we take him to the vet? Please advise.

Double-check that the temperatures of his enclosure are what they should be. It's possible he's being stubborn and just waiting for some new bugs to walk by. I suggest trying other insects such as superworms, butterworms, waxworms, silkworms, etc.

Keep an eye out on his stools though. If he has another runny or gooey poop, you should at least have a fecal sample tested at the vet's if not a vet visit.
