Crazy Leo....

DancingBunny18 Jun 21, 2004 02:10 AM

okay I think my leo is loosing it.. She seems to be a dig-a-holic... all she does is dig(we named her digglet) anyways, whenever she digs its always around the water bowl and she is always filling it with sand. At first I thought it was because she was looking for a place to lay her eggs, but she has laid and its been almost a week and still... she digs... we have moved the water all over the tank, thinking maybe she just wanted a whole in that particular spot but i just dont know any more... anyone got any ideas??? and what can i do to try and stop this.. I an afraid that they wont get any water if she keeps doing this... Crazy little digglet

Our geckos love to dig, also, but we haven't had the water dish problems you have had. We keep our babies on paper towels, and then move them to sand when they reach a certain size (about 6-7", and the moment they hit the ground, it's party time! You might try a heavier water dish. The one we have is large and heavy, but shallow, and looks like a fake rock. We purchased it from a petstore for about $8. The geckos have never turned it over, although we do have to refill it everyday, due to evaporation (which one should do anyway to maintain fresh water). Good luck!

Put in a second water dish for them to drink out of, and let her dig around the other one to her heart's content. A girl's gotta DIG!
