Baldago Male Tiger Retic

worldsocold Jun 21, 2004 04:27 AM

Hey, Im a Big carpet and water person myself (at least for the time being) but for a while i was considering buying a Retic, and I knew if i wanted one it had to be a tiger or super. I recently got this male from Al I got to say its been a pure pleasure to own him for the past few weeks. Anything I should expect out of the ordinary from this guy? I also have $100 down on a super tiger that im getting in july.

THe only thing that concerns me is, this Retic doesn't have the usual retic food response. In a way he does, but he doesn't constrict, he just grabs it with his jaws and begins swallowing it, I feed frozen/thawed and fresh killed so this isn't a problem. Im just more concerned if thats the snakes personality or just being fed frozen/thawed all of its short life??? He knows when its feeding time though, I entered the room with my tongs and he stopped shedding and wouldn't do anything but follow my tongs so i had to feed him.

I would say good for you with the feeding reponse. I have a super that is the same way he just swallows. Baldago stock is large. He will be a larger male tiger than most if you feed him well.

I have never owned a retic but I will say I have seen that same response in some of my snakes. I have balls & a boa....the boa & 1 of my balls are like that. I drop in the food & they don't strike or constrict they just come on up to it give a quick flick of the tongue & start swallowing. The boa doesn't even care about the temp of the rat she has eaten them at room temp all she cares is that it smells like dinner..lol they didn't start off this way they struck & constricted for a few months & after they realized there was no need they stopped....so you prob have one that's been feeding f/t for awhile ...also I heard that retics were very intelligent so maybe he just caught on quicker than most pythons

Its a baby so Im not sure how long it could have been fed frozen thawed, at most 8 weeks? fedding once a week? Maybe twice? Ive just never seen any animal do this, My 2 year old carpets that have been fed frozen thawed all there life (except the first few feedings) Still bite and constrict, and my male will eat it frozen if he could.

Baldago retics get bigger? Thats an understatement, Its a baby and is about 2 1/3-3 ft.

yeah i figured it was young that's why I added that I heard retics were very intelligent I love my balls but I know they are more of a "D" student..lol so that retic just probably caught on real quick... yea also if you go to the anaconda forum there's a guy that goes by "DFR" he was pics of his condas feeding..they eat out of his hand on forceps....he dangles it & they just swallow upward while he holds it..pretty cool......worldsocold..hhhhmmmmmm mudvayne fan?? good stuff my girl hung out with them for a minute..we both work for Sony music (they own columbia & epic) so mudvayne is one of our artists

I have a female tiger from the baldogo's and she won't take frozen thawed from me even if I leave it in with her, she will strike and bite at it but will not constrict. As for the male thing, baldogo has large retics, and even males, they have an 18 ft tiger male, so yours might get bigger then other tiger males, if you haven't seen any of their stuff check out their site and look through some of their animals, there are some pretty big ones.

Yeah Im a Huge Metal fan, and thats interesting I've never heard of that but then again snakes do have personalities

yeah it was wild the snake just eating a f/t didn't suprise me too much but the anaconda wanting him to dangle the food so it can swallow it up was nuts..if you post or email him i'm sure he'll send you the pics..& he seems pretty well educated as well which is always a plus in the advice column..lol

PANTERA RULES!!!!!!!

Im sure it was, I was trying to stay away from bigger snakes What can i say Im a sucker for a good looking retic! I've always wanted one but too expensive, Cages, food, the actual price of the animal. So far i must say out of every snake ive ever owned this reticis my favorite.
